Class, 1942

During World War II, Indiana County school children, including those in McIntyre, participated various ways in the war effort. Students collected scrap metal, rubber, kitchen fats, paper, silk, and nylon hosiery. The latter two materials were used in the making of life preservers. Within a few years, by March 31, 1944, school children in Indiana County collected 228,860 pounds of tin.
