Fear of unionization and strikes by the miners was common among all the coal companies as it was by the Rochester and Pittsburgh Coal Company. The signature is that of Lucius W. Robinson who served in a number of management and executive positions of the Coal Company and its subsidiaries. It was not uncommon for the same man to serve as an executive for several subsidiary companies of the parent organization.
