Miner's Coal Car Chits

Each miner had his own set of chits which identified him by number. Miners were paid by the tonnage and used these identifying chits to tag the cars that contained coal that they had mined. Miners often complained to their bosses or to local union representatives of being "short-weighted" on their tonnage totals.
