Class, 1942-43

These first graders of 1942/43 participated in the "Junior Commando" program at the McIntyre school which encouraged and rewarded them for collecting tin, hardened cooking fat, milkweed pods, and other items for the war effort. Depending on how much they collected they were able to rise from "private" to "captain" and were issued "Junior Commando" cards.
