Union Hall Dinner for World War II Enlistees

The McIntyre Union Hall served a variety of purposes such as  dances, basketball, movies, wedding receptions, union meetings, and other events. This photo is of a union dinner given by District 2, Local 3548 of the United Mine Workers of America to honor five local World War II enlistees. A member of the International Executive Board of the Union attended as well as district and local members and officers. Although it is too small to see properly, a photo of John L. Lewis, President of the United Mine Workers of America, is on the back wall, below and to the right of the American flag. Women from the town can be seen in the background preparing to serve the food, which was probably homemade.
