Taxable Residents of Conemaugh Township, 1807
Young Township was formed from parts of Blacklick and
Conemaugh Townships in 1830. Although many of the residents identified themselves as
farmers, some of the other listed occupations are cooper, tailor, saddler, weaver,
schoolmaster, and carpenter. Most of these early settlers were either immigrants from the
British Isles or their descendants. Note the occupation listing of "widow" for several of the women. This is only a partial listing of taxable
inhabitants for 1807.
