McIntyre Home Talent Play, 1929
Movies, dances, picnics,
basketball, ethnic games, such as morra, an Italian hand
game of strategy played by two people for points, were forms of entertainment enjoyed by town residents.
Baseball was a very important leisure time activity in McIntyre and other coal
mining towns. Leagues were sponsored and supported by the Coal Company. Local bars
and speakeasies were patronized by town residents and others from nearby areas.
