Simple Dress, 1937
This young woman is wearing a simple dress, perhaps handmade from material purchased at the company store. The shoes, and hairstyle called a "Marcel wave" were typical of fashions from this period. Note the company house and garden in the background.
In 1937, $42.65 was spent annually per person on clothing. A pair of Florsheim brand men's shoes was $8.75, and a maternity corset was $2.98.
